Oculus Rift Inbound

The future has arrived... kind of.

This is a big deal, like no kidding. The Rift is probably one of 2016's most highly anticipated products and it's been in the works since 2012. In four years Oculus went from being a small crowdfunded startup company to being bought out by Facebook for $2 billion; that just shows how rapidly the company has been evolving it's VR technology and now you can finally get the long awaited Rift for yourself. Well, I'm lying actually. The Rift itself has been backordered until July and if you were like me who ended up pulling that rather heavy $599 dollar trigger(Which is actually more like $680 once you figure in tax and shipping, not to mention more if your PC is below spec) on the day it came out which was yesterday. In other words I won't be seeing this thing for another four months which sucks but that's life I guess. You can get the Rift for yourself if you happen to be one of the lucky souls who pre-ordered; those come first and they are already getting theirs or by paying a scalper but I strongly suggest that you please not feed those scumbags. In the meantime you can pick up a cheap Cardboard unit to get a taste of what VR is like. Anyways, this will be something to look forward to down the line and I'll be impatiently waiting for the doorbell to ring in July.

Nerf Doomlands 2169 Persuader Review (6/10)

More hammer action because why not?

I would have also had a review up for the Star Wars Han Solo pistol if I didn't end up breaking that one like complete idiot but we have this. Doomlands 2169 is gradually growing but with the abundance of new lineups that Nerf is putting out it isn't growing quite as fast as Elite or Vortex when they were new. Doomlands didn't have a sidearm for a while and Nerf really had to make something interesting since pistols tend to be pretty cookie cutter these days, so they did, and it's about as interesting as adding even more barrels onto an already existing platform. This bad boy is called the Persuader and while it's pretty cool, it's not very special.

100,000 Views: A Big Thanks

Wow, I never thought we would hit this milestone but here we are. I want to give you guys a big thanks for showing your interest in all the stuff I've posted over the years and today is also Easter as a matter of fact so a Happy Easter too. I know things have been a bit slow lately and I'm in the process of making some new posts but this blog is just a hobby of mine after all and sometimes real life does require attention. Like I said I have new reviews and such in the works and I got some more fun stuff coming in later this week so you guys can look forward to that. Anyways, thanks again for the support over the years. Cheers.

Nerf Perks

I know this started at some point last year but I wasn't aware of it until much recently. Essentially Hasbro has started a rewards system for Nerf akin to Gamestop's PowerUp Rewards. The idea is, you buy more Nerf products, you earn more points and you can spend those points on anything from posters to footballs, and even full fledged blasters. To earn your points all you need is your purchase receipt and the UPC code off the barcode on the box. Now I would have taken advantage of this, but I have no idea where my receipts have gone for nearly all of my purchases, and I don't tend to keep my boxes either. Save your receipts people, it's actually worth something now.

As for the current state of affairs, the One has been vastly improved upon from the DRM laden machine we remember all too well from reveal and the PS4 has been standing on solid ground since; both trading relatively equal punches. My last two console reviews on them were pretty general to say the least since both the PS4 and the Xbox One were quite similar and had their ups and downs. I can't really say the same about this review though, I had to look at it a bit differently and writing it was almost like telling a story. You see this review is about the Wii U, the quirky little 8th generation console that's been cowering in the shadows of the two giants since they hit the shelves in 2013. How's it been faring since then? Let's find out.

Samsung Gear S Review

Because it has to go curved at some point.

I used the original Galaxy Gear for a bit over a month and all that determined was it just wasn't a very good smartwatch, but first timers aren't usually perfect. I wasn't ready to give up on this smartwatch idea just yet so I went out and upgraded to Samsung's second newest smartwatch. This rather large, curved wrist computer is called the Gear S and it's a wildly ambitious attempt to make the smartwatch more relevant, but does it actually do what it's predecessors failed to do?
