Nerf Venom Shot Review (3.5)

One of those strange ass blasters that nobody has ever heard about. Here's the 1996 Venom Shot, one of those strange, but kind of cool blasters of the Max Force lineup.

Ok first of all, I have seen ZERO info on this gun, asides from NCenter(Where the info is a decade old) no internal shots no nothing. Its one of those blasters that have a barrel large enough for a mega dart, but ammo holders for micros, and Buzzbees and Screamers are really the only darts that work well with it. Lets take a closer look at this thing.

Yeah, the thing kind of blew up when I opened it, The trigger mech pops out of places and is a pain in the ass to reassemble when you got those legs to hook up to. I eventually got down to the plunger, a 2 cm wide direct plunger. There was virtually no seal. Like the Electric Eel, this used a rubber gasket instead of an O-Ring. I re-greased it and it sealed a little bit better, but that all goes to waste with the barrel system. Like the Mono Blast, air comes through the dart post, and the dart post was barely secure on the barrel itself. Its tilted and spun around and you wouldn't imagine how many misfires this thing set out. I'm near the point where I should pull that piece of crap out and re-barrel it.. Ranges are barely 20 to 25 feet, even a Reactor hits slightly better ranges. I love the way it primes though, its a very fast system.

Comfortwise, not very good. I like the old, goofy style of this thing, but its handle, which folds out of the bottom is literally baby hand tiny. Its not very comfortable. At all.

End result is a blaster that tries to pull off speed and power, but really only gets one of those done right. I'll give it a 3.5 because Nerf tried to be creative here, and mistakes happen.

The Verdict

Range- Crap, barely 20 to 25 feet

Size- Fairly small, but because of those legs it won't fit in your pocket

Reliability- Age decaying gasket system, otherwise, nothing

RoF- 1 dart per 2.2 seconds

Ammo- 1 micro dart, 2 in reserve

Modding- Really no potential, I see nothing because of how uncomfortable it is
