Nerf Strongarm Review (5)

Kudos to the guy who paid 1000 bucks for this thing. How do you say thank you, in idiot? Anyway's this is Nerf's long awaited successor to the highly popular Maverick; its quite impressive.

I really enjoyed the Mav and it was a solid secondary in my early days of Nerfing, I owned two and the second croaked recently so I figured I'd replace it. This new revolver shares many similarities to the Mav and the Spectre with a heavily redesigned shell and traded out the Mav's detailed chamber with a half exposed, smooth surface one similar the Spectre, with 6 shots. The grip is very comfy and is perfect for most hands.

Performance wise, the chambers on this flip out all the way, eliminating the need for the mod the Mav needed for spinning the chambers and such. It uses a direct plunger system which is the answer for its great ranges of 60+. 75 feet is kind of exaggerating this since its revolver and it does not get a perfect chamber to plunger seals anyways. Probably the most prominent feature of the Strongarm is its slam fire. Yes, now you can have old west gun battles and rain hell on the poor bastard with the Mav like Clint Eastwood.

Internals are somewhat more complex to say the least. Like most Elite blasters. all parts are linked to a mainframe so it can all be lifted out and put back in one piece. Unlike the Mav, you can cram bigger springs in this since its direct plunger. One notable thing is that the chambers neither rotate on the trigger pull or prime. It rotates when the plunger retracts, so the dart fires, then the forward movement of the plunger rotates the chambers.

To say the least, the Mav is dead, but not forgotten. This highly viable replacement to the Mav packs a bigger punch and has slam fire. Really, who the hell would give that up. I have to give the Strongarm a 5 because Nerf once again reinvented a old, tried design and made it better. Pick this up and you won't be disappointed one little bit.

The Verdict
Range- 60+ feet for a revolver was unheard of.
Size- Around the same size of the Mav, just less bulk.
Reliability- Can't jam, so far no known issues.
RoF- 1 dart per 2.3 seconds.
Ammo- 6 Elite Darts
Modding- Its direct plunger so it opens new doors where the Mav didn't.

Is it Better than?
Maverick REV-6- Yes. The Mav was a long time fan favorite as it holds the record for the best selling blaster of all time. Its high capacity and ability to fire off 6 darts in rapid succession made it a great starter blaster for Nerfers. Unfortunately the Mav's reverse plunger bogs down power compared to the Strongarm's far superior system. Reliability can be accounted for since the Mav can jam darts on rotation as well.

Spectre REV-5- Yes. The Spectre was essentially a bulkier improvement on the Mav. This edition features only 5 rounds, a mock silencer, and a folding stock. The Spectre achieved better ranges though because of its direct barrel to plunger seal so the turret rotated on the prime. With all its attachments removed its basically a bulky ass Mav with one less dart and somewhat better ranges. The Strongarm adds that one missing dart but retains a rotation mech and chamber similar to the Spectre.

Tek 6- Yes. The Tek 6 is absolute garbage compared to the Strongarm. The Tek isn't really a bad blaster, its performance is average and uses a rotate on prime mech like the Spectre, not to mention its smaller than the latter. But the Tek's handle is quite small and has a very strong air restrictor system. This is not reccomended unless you have little money or cash to burn.
