This isn't your grandpa's revolver... well actually it might be.
Feast your eyes on this magnificence! This weapon of plastic and foam! There are many like it but this one is mine! Well actually, I lied, there aren't that many, especially nowadays. The majority of SuperMAXX 1000s are probably crammed 50 feet below the ground in a landfill or in granny's attic basking in the spiderwebs. This one however was a lucky find for me on eBay and I snatched this relic up to add to my SuperMAXX collection, and wow, does this blaster from 1994 deliver.
Size compared to a Magnus.
The SuperMAXX 1000 is one of Larami's shortest lived blasters. Since it's launch in 1994, the blaster along with it's insanely rare cousin, the SuperMAXX 1500 Missile Launcher were never re-released, ever. This was a lucky find as my blaster was perfectly functional asides from a few minor cosmetic imperfections. Plus it came its original darts all for $15 bucks which is quite the steal. The blaster is very comfortable and people of all sized hands can use it. The rotation is the best I've used on a revolver and it works just like a real revolver mechanism. Only downside to this is the mechanism is quite fragile and mine broke shortly after I filmed the test fire video which really fucking sucks.
My modded raider stock fits perfectly on the blaster.
The blaster operates very efficiently and it only takes 3 pumps to fully pressurize means that you can rapidly fire all 6 Larami Darts fairly quickly. As for it's performance, I'm astounded. This is the most powerful stock vintage blaster I've ever used and it fire harder than most Elite blasters. My longest shot with it ranged in at around 70 feet flat while the majority hit about 60 to 65 which is extremely good, especially for a blaster this old.
Internals are complex, especially the rotation mechanism.
The blaster is pain in the ass to open. There are two rings in the front of the blaster that must be pried off before it can be unscrewed. And when you get it open, the internals may explode at you. The blaster t it's core operates like any other SuperMAXX blaster with a tank reminiscent to that of an Air Tech 3000. The front of the trigger that links to the rotation mechanism is the most fragile part of the rotation system and has a pretty good chance of breaking.
So in the end, the SuperMAXX 1000 is a great gun. It's very powerful and operates very smoothly, however it's prone to various reliability issues and in the long run, it will cause most people issues. I give the SuperMAXX 1000 a 8 out of 10 for being extremely powerful for it's time but it'd reliability is something to gripe a little about. Buy one if you can find one.
The Verdict
Class- Air Powered Revolver
Range- Excellent, 60 to 70 feet.
Size- Slightly smaller than a stripped down Recon.
Reliability- Rotation mech is commonly prone to breaking.
Ammo- 6 Larami Darts(The SM1k's darts are a little shorter than usual)
Modding- Some potential but it will call for extensive shell damage.
Value- At $26, it was very powerful and practical for not much cash, tracking one down today is more of a challenge.
Is It Better Than?
SuperMAXX 3000- Depends, the 3000 is an excellent blaster by all means. It boasts more ammo and is almost as powerful, at least the Yellow version is. The Blue and Green versions can suck up to the SM1k.
