Nerf Zombiestrike Clear Shot Review (4.5)

Haven't you guys bought me before?

Nothing screams lack of creativity more than a repaint of a blaster, especially when it does not live up to the new range standards of today's blasters. I found this Clear Shot at Target for $15 bucks and it was the last one so I naturally snatched it up. Ok, yeah it's a bit disappointing that this blaster does not hit the "Elite" ranges the rest of the blasters out there nowadays do but for what it is, it's actually quite solid.

Size compared to a Lock n' Load and a Firestrike, it's not very compact.

Ok to get one thing out of the way, this blaster is simply a repaint of the Dart Tag Stormfire that was released in 2009 which in it own way was basically a Nite Finder reworked from the ground up. Nerf just slapped a Super Soaker Shot Blast scope on it and called it a day. As you can see from the picture above, it's quite large, bigger than a Lock n' Load in fact and much bigger than a Firestrike, a gun that outshoots the Clear Shot any day of the week.

I'd have to say the design of this blaster is very cool, probably one of my favorites. The grip on it is excellent and feels very nice in your hands. There's about a million places to store extra ammo on it, another plus, and the slide action is very smooth. In general it's just very well built.

The blaster hit's roughly around 30 to 40 feet which isn't bad for it's time but now there's blasters that shoot twice as far. Reason for it's sub par ranges is the fact that it's internals haven changed a damn bit since 2009, not to mention it's basically a Nite Finder. On the plus side, like a Nite Finder it's extremely easy to mod so this thing is capable of much of the same stuff it's laser sighted brethren is.

The Clear Shot is a pretty solid blaster, for it's time. It's not bad nowadays but considering there far more powerful pistols out there there really not much reason to get one. On the bright side it's shell is excellent and it's very easy to mod so for such purposes it's perfect. But compared to pistols like the Firestrike there's really no contest. I give the Clear Shot a 4 for being an all around good blaster but it just needed that extra punch.

The Verdict

Class- Slide Action Pistol

Range- Decent, about 30 to 40 feet.

Size- Pretty big, about twice as big as a Firestrike.

Reliability- No issues.

Ammo- 5 Elite Darts

Modding- Great potential, very simple to mod and the results are usually pleasing.

Is It Better Than?

Nite Finder- Depends, the Nite Finder is much smaller and it gets about the same performance but I found the Clear Shot to have a much nicer shell. So unless you must absolutely have an... ahem, "laser" on your pistol, get the Clear Shot.










Firestrike- No, the Firestrike absolutely destroys the Clear Shot in performance. It's far more compact and hits ranges of around 60 feet. And like the Nite Finder before it, modding it is a cinch. There's no reason for you to get a Clear Shot over this.
