Nerf Doomlands 2169 Lawbringer Review (7/10)

This one was found at Target recently and it's one of the more interesting of the late 2015 lineup, not to mention it's from a whole new series, Doomlands 2169, that we can expect whole new things from entirely. So without further ado lets see how the Lawbringer performs.

Size compared to a Sledgefire.

The Lawbringer is the latest of Nerf's hammer action blasters and it take the form of a full blown revolving rifle, complete with this cyber western thing going on. It's roughly the same as the Sledgefire and Slingfire in form factor. It's not terribly bulky for it's size which is nice and the overall feel is fairly comfortable. I will note that there is a large hunk of shell that crowds the trigger area a bit, but it's not too bad.

Internals can be clearly seen in the right half of the shell.

One interesting thing is the clear shell on one half, almost reminiscent of the old Airjet Power Plus line. I found the prime to be much easier than the Hammershot, maybe it's because of the two handed design but I was able to fire this thing pretty fast. And like the Hammershot, I already tried fanning the hammer, it barely works.

Internals are very similar to the Hammershot.

The actual internal layout of the Lawbringer is very similar to the Hammershot, just with a larger rotation mechanism to accommodate the 12 dart cylinder. For what ever reason though, it only hits a bit over the 50 foot mark and it's not the most accurate nor consistent in terms of range. While I imagine most Hammershot mods will work with this, it's a bit underwhelming in terms of stock performance for a blaster of this size. In close quarters however, it should do great if you get it's firing system down pat.

So far the Lawbringer is a fairly solid blaster. It has great ammo capacity and good range, but it's performance is a bit inconsistent and other blaster of similar size and style perform better. Don't get me wrong, it's a ton of fun and it has some practical uses but for a viable war primary, it's not the best choice. I'm going to give the Lawbringer a 7 out of 10 since it's a pretty fun and good performing blaster, it's lack of consistency however makes the alternatives better.

The Verdict

Class- Hammer Action Revolving Rifle

Range- Decent, around 50 feet.

Size- About the same as a Sledgefire.

Reliability- Inconsistent and inaccurate shots are common.

Ammo- 12 Elite Darts

Modding- Similar potential to the Hammershot, could be a good candidate of minimization or integration.
Value- At $35, its very expensive for what is basically a retooled Hammershot.

Is It Better Than?

Rampage- No, we're talking better performance out of a gun that is packed with a 25 round drum and can take mags of any size you want. The Rampage and the Elite Alpha Trooper are the better choices against the Lawbringer.

Doominator- No, remember that pistol I raved so highly about called the Flipfury? Take that, convert it to pump action, add two more 6 round chambers for a total of 24 rounds and you have a monster of a blaster.

Slingfire- Yes, while it is slightly more powerful, the lever action priming is more of a neat gimmick and lacks any real practicality. You can fire the Lawbringer much faster anyways.
