This is absolutely insane. |
So my Rift actually arrived about a month before it's earliest projected arrival, which I can assume was due to all the people who canceled their orders due to massive delays. This isn't a full review of the Rift; I will have one in the coming days since there is just so much to talk about with this device but after just a few hours of messing with it, my mind is blown. I only have one actual game for it at the moment which, thanks to the assuring screams of Markiplier is Dreadhalls. I barely played any of this game and it was already giving me feelings unlike any horror game, let alone any game I've ever played. Looking through the Rift is almost akin to looking through goggles but the field of vision is good enough that it immerses you completely into the game. A good pair of headphones helps too and the Rift's built in set works quite well. The head tracking is smooth and it even gives the ability to look around corners which is insane. I'm sitting in the comfort of my chair and I know this for a fact but Dreadhalls gave me a genuine feeling of claustrophobia and no joke intended; dread that I couldn't even make it through the first hallway. Call me a wuss if you must but if I was playing this on a monitor this wouldn't have happened, it's not even close to being the same. I'll man up and try again tomorrow but I picked up VorpX and I hope to try other games on the Rift too, as well Virtual Desktop for actual computing. So far the Rift has my vote, let's see if it stays that way.
