Nerf Modulus Strike & Defend Upgrade Kit Review (7/10)

Stock? Pistol? Why don't we have both?
Ok, the Modulus. I really slandered that thing, even though it wasn't that bad of a blaster to begin with. It's just so chuck full of really expensive gimmicks that basically renders any cheaper flywheel blaster of a similar type a more viable option. But there are a few of those attachment kits that have a few nifty things. This is one of them, the Strike & Defend Kit, a rather interesting concept, and it actually does it's job quite well.

Size compared to a Strongarm.
Ok, I'm just going to treat this as a regular blaster review since I'm pretty sure we all know what the shield is. It's a folding piece of slightly above milk jug grade plastic that's been molded too small to be of any effectiveness, or in layman's terms, it's pretty useless. There isn't much to say about the pistol though. It's decently comfortable and very easy to use. What would be nice if they added some ammo storage somewhere on it but hey, we got pockets in our pants for a reason.
Attached to the Modulus itself.
The real kicker about this pistol is that it doubles as a stock. Remember that I said how god awful the stock that came with the Modulus was? This thing is light years of an improvement compared to that bendy piece of crap. It feels very solid and I like it almost as much as the Lighningstorm Stock. The fact that it doubles as a pistol just makes it even sweeter.
What do you yell when you see a handle sticking out of the grip of your gun? JOLT! JOLT! JOLT! JOLT!
Yeah it's a Jolt, I didn't even have to second guess that. It's internals are stretched out like a giraffe to fit in the cavernous shell and as a result its added a lot of dead space. But the seal is excellent and I'm pulling off shots around the 40+ mark. It's not the most accurate but it is designed as a holdout weapon so it's only going to be used as a last resort. Also another thing to note is that it can fire over the top of some blasters, and that can be helpful.

This kit is fairly solid in my book. Sure the shield is useless but the only reason you would buy this thing is for the pistol stock. It's a good stock and it's not a bad pistol either. Bottom line is, if you hate the Modulus stock and want something better this would be a good thing to get, or if you just want a good stock in general. As for it's dart shooting side, it's worthy of a 7 out of 10. It's a Jolt, I know, but it's the best damn one I've seen to date.

The Verdict
Class- Pistol/Stock Hybrid
Range- Decent, around 40+ feet.
Size- Slightly shorter than a Strongarm.
Reliability- No issues.
Ammo- 1 Elite Dart
Modding- Same potential as most Jolt variants.
Value- At $15 its makes for a good, unique stock and blaster, the shield isn't useful enough though.

This looks awesome, but IT'S JUST ANOTHER STUPID JOLT
But the stock part is awesome. I think I like!

  2. I feel really stupid now, considering I wanted the set for the shield at that time. But wow, it was a great bundle to get.
